September Newsletter 2025

As we approach our Annual General Meeting (AGM), I want to take a moment to underline the importance of both the AGM and the upcoming Special General Meeting. These meetings are not just about procedure – they are about shaping the direction of our club, welcoming new committee members, and ensuring that our future remains strong and united. Your voice and your presence matter.

Over the winter months, our training numbers have been lower than usual, which is understandable given the season. However, as we move back into the busy part of our racing calendar, I strongly encourage everyone to re-engage with club training. Our strength has always come from paddling together, and we now have some big regattas ahead where we wish to perform at the highest level. In the near future, we also have our exciting club-to-club race. This is an important opportunity to showcase the depth of our teams, and I have every confidence that Hurricane will perform exceptionally well across all divisions. Our A-Crew is targeting nothing less than first place, and with the commitment of our paddlers, I know we can achieve this.

Looking further ahead, our focus is clear – we are aiming to take out the Champion Club title for the fifth consecutive year. This would be a record achievement and a testament to the dedication of every member, from juniors to seniors, from novice to elite paddlers.

With new committee members stepping into roles at the AGM, I ask that we all continue to show respect for one another and make the best possible use of our facilities. The spirit of Hurricane has always been about inclusion, teamwork, and pride in our club, and it’s that culture which drives our ongoing success. Thank you to each and every member for your efforts, both on and off the water. Let’s continue to lift together, train hard, and make this season one that sets the standard for years to come. Looking forward to seeing you all at the AGM on the 12th.

Hurricane membership numbers are constantly growing.
We are excited to welcome Hurricane’s newest members –
