December Newsletter 2024

Dear Hurricane Members,

What a year it’s been! It brings me great joy to lead such an amazing club filled with incredible people working tirelessly behind the scenes. The culture at Hurricane is second to none, and I often hear how welcoming everyone is—this is exactly the kind of environment we need to continue fostering.

As most of you know, we now have a new six-man canoe, The Hydra. This incredible achievement was made possible through the hard work of Kai Hofman, the Kings representative. Kai has dedicated countless hours introducing me to a range of fantastic new sponsors. Soon, you’ll see the artwork for our new J1 corporate canoe, which will drive the club into the future of top-level canoe racing. When you see Kai at the club, please take a moment to introduce yourself and thank him for all his efforts.

Just around the corner is our 15-year celebration—a milestone in the club’s history! It’s going to be a fantastic night, so make sure you grab a ticket and join us. We’ll have an amazing live performance from The Twangsters, a brilliant three-piece surf-pop/rock band. Don’t miss it!

Looking ahead, we’ve got some exciting paddling events com-ing up, and the coaches will be assembling crews for these. Hurricane has always been committed to putting together the most competitive crews possible, and this philosophy will continue. I encourage everyone to spend more time paddling OC1 to build your fitness and skills, giving you the best chance to earn a spot in the top crews.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Cheers,

Stimo
